August 2010

The Parish Plan Group and Parish Council agree to set up a Partnership - similar to those in Alsager, Congleton, Middlewich and Sandbach.  The PC have identified funding for a Partnership Project Officer to cover the period until the end of March 2011.

July 2010

Progress continues with the Working Groups and a date has now been set for the Public Meeting to launch the Holmes Chapel U3A

Great progress is being made with the Working Groups and with the Parish Council Task Group

The Parish Plan stall at the Village Fair on May 2nd and at Holmes Chapel Today on 15th May was a resounding success!Village Fair May 2010

There was a great deal of interest in the plans to upgrade the Playarea in Middlewich Road with more up to date, and safer equipment - similar to the changes made at both Goostrey and Brereton.  At the same time comments were made about the need to provide improved facilities for adolescents, such as the long expected skateboard park.

Also of great interest were the plans to set up a U3A in the village.  Many residents currently have to travel to Congleton or Sandbach to take advantage of U3A sessions; having the same opportunities in the village was ceryainly seen as a good idea.  The U3A working group is hoping to have a public meeting to launch the U3A later this year.

April 2010

We have now formally set up the Implementation Group, under the Chairmanship of Stuart Gammon.

Our first three projects have been selected, and Working Groups are being formed to start work on the associated actions. The projects are:

  • Middlewich Road Playarea improvements
  • University of the Third Age (U3A)
  • Litter and Dog Waste bin improvement
We will be at the following Village events:
  • the Village Fair on Sunday 2nd May
  • the Annual Parish Meeting on Thursday 13th May
  • the Holmes Chapel Today Exhibition on Saturday 15th May

February 2010

Following a break for Christmas/New Year, and some rest and recuperation on the part of the Steering Group, we are now working hard on both formally winding up the creation phase, and getting the Implementation Phase of the Plan up and running.  In so doing we will establish a formal constitution, and 'elect' members of the Steering Group.

We will be working with the Parish Council to agree who does what - to prevent duplication between community and Parish Council activities, and to maximise the benefit of working together where appropriate.

The first major project is likely to be the renovations / upgrades to the Play Area in Middlewich Road - adjacent to the Junior School.  We plan to liaise with the schools, play groups and the Parish Council when designing the new area; we are, of course, also very interested in what YOU, the community, want to be done.

December 2009

The Parish Plan was launched at a public meeting at the Victoria Club, Holmes Chapel on Wednesday 2nd December 2009.  It was attended by members of the Parish and Cheshire East Councils, Cheshire Community Action and other interested bodies. Attendance by people from community in general  was rather disappointing.

October 2009

The Parish Plan has been completed and sent to the printers.  We will be holding a public launch at the Victoria Club, Holmes Chapel on Wednesday 2nd December 2009, starting at 7:30 pm.  All are welcome to attend

August 2009

After a lot of hard work refining the findings and proposals, the Parish Plan is nearing completion,

Since the consultation events we have been refining the draft Plan, checking that the proposed actions are backed up by evidence, and turning the draft into something which can be published as a formal document (with photos, graphics, etc.) to use in the next stage – implementing the actions, and seeking funding from outside bodies.

We are hoping to publish by the end of October. Due to the high cost of printing (around £6 a copy) and the environmental considerations of printing 2500 copies of a 40-page document, we will not be sending a copy to every household.  Instead the full document – as well as updates on progress- will be available here on our website; for those who do not have access to computers or the internet, we will make a small number of printed copies available in the Library – these will be for reference only.

The next stage, after publication, is to take the various proposed actions forward as a number of projects, and start making improvements around the Parish.  To do this we need more volunteers – you can put in as much or as little time as you are able, but typically each project would require a couple of hours a week from each team member over a period of three to six months.

If you are interested in volunteering, or have comments for our attention, please contact us by email (holmeschapelparishplan@live.co.uk) or write to Stuart Gammon at 41 Portree Drive, Holmes Chapel, CW4 7JB

July 2009

The consultation events were well attended and we had the opportunity to speak to many people from our community. We are now working hard to finalise the Parish Plan, which we hope to publish by the end of September, after which we will be seeking more volunteers in order to implement the actions proposed in the Plan.

If you are interested in helping, please contact us via our Contact Us page.

May 2009

The Steering Group will be at both the Holmes Chapel Village Fair (arranged by the Victoria Club) on Sunday 3rd May, and the Holmes Chapel Today event which will be held in the Methodist Church on Saturday 16th May 2009.

This is your opportunity to find out more about the proposed Parish Plan, speak to the team, and leave any written comments or ideas you have.

Please come along and visit our stand!

April 2009

Parish Plan Consultation exercise is launched with a flyer being sent to every household in the Parish.  The document outlines some key findings from the earlier questionnaire survey, identifies Areas for Improvement and suggests Actions to bring about change and improvement.
